                 IV. EDITORIAL PROCESS

At the beginning of the editorial process, articles received are evaluated by the Journal’s Editorial Committee. Some articles will not be accepted immediately if they do not conform to the editorial line or if they do not meet the requirements stipulated in the Instructions for authors. All other articles undergo blind peer-review process.

Peer-Review

Peer-review guarantees the quality, originality, feasibility and scientific rigor of a research article.  In this sense, it is a mandatory process for all types of manuscripts received by the Journal, with the exception of editorials.

The articles are evaluated by experienced and knowledgeable reviewers on the topic to which the article to be evaluated refers, with the intention that their concept achieves good judgment and high quality for publication. Selected reviewers do not receive remuneration, but are mentioned in the last number of each volume. Also, expert statistical reviewers will be available.

For the peer-review, at least two reviewers are invited per original article (includes a short original) and one for the other sections of the Journal, who anonymously and within 15 days will classify the works at the request of the Editorial Committee through a report based on the Evaluation Form provided by the Journal. The type of review is double-blind. Reviewers issue their rating and send suggestions and recommendations to improve the article.

Once the reviewers' rating, suggestions and recommendationshave beenreceived. The Editorial Committee will decide the following: approve or disapprove the publication, or any observation that the authors need to absolve. These observations are sent to the author who is given a period of 20 days to modify the article.

Depending on the case, the Editorial Committee may resend the article to a reviewer before considering its publication. No work will be definitively accepted until all the observations have been clarified and/or modified. If the corrections were not sent within a period of two months, the article will be removed and will go to the archive, notifying the author of this decision.

During the editing process, Revista DESAFIOS reserves the right to make changes to the article for a better understanding, without this leading to changes in its content.

The average time of the editorial process from the reception of the article to the decision of the Editorial Committee varies between two and four months. The author can request information on the progress of the article review, as well as the stage of the editorial process in which said article is.

Corrected proof

It is a stage of the editorial process after layout and edition of the article to be published. A proof of printing will be sent to the author in PDF format.   It will be carefully reviewed and corrections and/or approval of the manuscript will be sent within a period of no more than 48 hours.

The Editorial Committee reserves the right to admit or not the corrections made by the author in the proof of print.
